MINNEAPOLIS, MN — (October 30th, 2015) – Ryan Suter has a new business venture. The Minnesota Wild defenseman is an equity investor and partner in Twin Cities-based ASPIRE Beverages. ASPIRE Beverages was started in 2012 by two Minnesota hockey dads, John Montague and Jesse Parker, who couldn’t find a healthy sports drink for their active families – so they created one. Upset by the sugary, caloric, neon-colored drinks being consumed in the name of sports, they assembled a team of experts to develop sports drinks with electrolytes, vitamins and minerals designed to improve health and performance but without the sugar and artificial ingredients found in the leading brands. The health aspect is part of what drew Suter to ASPIRE, “My wife, Becky, introduced me to ASPIRE. She was buying it for our son. Working with ASPIRE combines two of the most important things to me- my family and health.”
Montague said this partnership felt right from the start, “Our goal is to become the sports drink choice for all athletes, young and old. So you can imagine how exciting it was when a top athlete like Ryan Suter said he wanted to be a part of this company.”
Suter is much more than a celebrity endorser for the growing company. He will be a part of business development, promotional events, marketing, product development and testing. It is a role Suter said aligns with his goals, “In business, I am always looking for ways to help kids have fun and get to the next level. These values were instilled in me by my dad, Bob Suter. He always said, ‘It’s all about the kids.’ Kids want to drink sports drinks- why not give them one, like ASPIRE, that will help them perform at a higher level and be a healthier person.”
In the past three years, ASPIRE has become the sports drink of choice for top athletes, like Suter. It is the Official Sports Drink of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC), Life Time Fitness Athletic Events, Under Armour All-America Football Game, and many other elite organizations at youth, high school, college and adult levels, both amateur and professional.
According to Montague, “Ryan is an example of greatness- on and off the ice- and the perfect representation of our brand.” Both are excited about this partnership taking ASPIRE to the next level.
